Been a while
It’s been a while since I’ve actually written anything on here. I actually couldn’t remember at first how to even login and then when I did there were 419 spam comments waiting for me.
I’ve finally taken up the torch to clean up some USE flags in Gentoo, specifically the “qt”, “tcltk”, and “gtk2″ USE flags. Details can be found here. I’ve also worked on bringing ivtv & MythTV up to speed again.
On the MythTV box front, I’ve got the box assembled and up and running. I finally got the sound to work today so I’ve only been watching recorded TV remotely on my laptop at night rather then on the nice big TV. There’s still a few issues like DPMS claiming I should have a 203dpi screen which throws the fonts out of wack so I need to customize the DPI and some other lines to make it look good. Also I now need to get a QAM card or something that will let me capture HDTV because my TV is an HDTV.
I’ve been working a whole lot (7 days a week) at both jobs. I’ve been seeing the value of BSD licensed software rather then having to suffer from NIH syndrome. Unfortunately because we support so many different platforms and all the standard C libraries are just the opposite of standard and then Windows usually just doesn’t even have the functions implemented. We have to duplicate a bunch of ISO C99 functions ourselves. It hasn’t been fun.
Then to round it out I’m moving in exactly 7 days. Not looking forward to the packing and moving. However the new place is only 3 miles away according to Google Maps so it won’t be that bad of a move, plus we have a 10 day overlap where we can be in both places at once.
