Linux World Expo & Gentoo US Meetup

Cardoe wrote this late at night:

So I really wanted to go to this year’s Linux World Expo in Boston but alas I don’t think I can afford it on my meager college budget but I do want to go in August to the LWE in San Franciso. I hope a bunch of developers will go.

Another thing I was considering, I know people say that the European Gentoo devs are more organized and us Americans are less so. They also get to meet up more often and have dev-only meet ups. So I was thinking of doing one sometime this winter down here in Florida, specifically the University of Florida. I figured winter would be good for some of you in the horrible climates. Also that gives me more time to prepare.

Now granted Gainesville is a small airport so it’s expensive but flights planned well in advance aren’t expensive. So most likely I’d have to look into this for Jacksonville or Orlando. However University of Florida has a large Gentoo roll out and some departments are willing to assist in hosting this event. So we’ll see which location works out to be the best.

My idea is to have one day for developer only discussions or meetings and another day or two for user community as well.
But if no one is interested I won’t do any leg work involved in researching the possibility.
