I want my computer to make the sound of a yeti!!!

Cardoe wrote this in the wee hours:

So it’s like 4am and all of a sudden there’s a loud double pop followed by a fairly sizable bang. I looked around and noticed that my TV, VCR, DVD player and MythTV box appeared to have no power. So I flicked the switch on the surge protector and the flashing 12:00’s come back to life. So I pressed the power button on my MythTV box…. nothing. uh oh. The box is dead.

Well I had two tests so I ignored it for the time being and went back to studying. Maybe like 4 hrs later I decided to review some PDF files my teacher posted online and as soon as Adobe pops up the HD in my laptop makes the click noise like it’s restarting. Then again… and again… and again… Now it’s howling and yelling like Chewy from Star Wars. And that’s how I knew it was going to be a good day.

On a side note, I’ve always known and said that Adobe is a beast of a program and insanely large. It should not swamp a laptop processor to display a tiny PDF file. Whatever black voodoo magic Adobe has… it needs to be removed.

But just letting the laptop sit there for about 10 hrs with the power off and thinking about what it did helped its conscious decide it needed to work for me… not against me.

And follow that off by a quick swap of PSU’s in my MythTV box and I was back up and running. However I bet the MythTV box will do the same thing shortly. The box consistently gets way to hot and locks up sometimes during big compiles (i.e. glibc) from heat. I had to put some cheap no name, light, crappy PSU in there cause it’s all I had.

Any recommendations for good MythTV cases? Good cooling needed obviously.. but quiet!
